Raspberry Pi has a CSI connector. That is the product. A USB webcam will work, and it will throw away the reason you bought a Pi. The old 'top 5' list ranked official HQ cameras and third-party boards. Useful as history. For an OEM build you want a factory MIPI module that already speaks Pi, with a locked BOM.
Choose in this order
- Interface: CSI / MIPI. USB only if the Pi is just a convenient PC.
- Shutter: global if things move or lights blink. Rolling if the scene is still.
- Resolution versus pixel size. Night and HDR care about the well. Crop cares about the count.
- Lens: image circle versus the sensor, FOV at that format, not a catalogue FOV from another chip.

If you need night, read night vision modules. If you need a whole custom stack, use the custom camera module flow. We do not pretend the official Pi HQ camera is a Camemake part. We do build the industrial cousins.
